This morning I talked about the ridiculous naysaying surrouding Black Friday and the purported “weakness” of the US consumer.

Here’s something latebreaking via the Guardian that is pretty much all you need to know:

Online shoppers set a set a single-day spending record on Cyber Monday, despite deals being stretched out this holiday season to a ‘Black November’.

Online sales Monday jumped 17% from last year, totaling nearly $2.04bn, research firm comScore said.

That represents the heaviest online spending day in history and the first to surpass $2bn in sales, said the firm, which tracks online sales.

That’s how we roll now. We don’t lay in the street in front of a silver-gated JC Penney at 5 in the morning anymore.
