Futures up just a bit. Oil $61.85, Dollar 94.92, gold $1,192.
JO/Yo - I like coffee down here, it did well for us at the end of 2013 when we last bothered with the Futures on them (good for a double).
If this isn't a bottom, it's probably near enough that we can scale in. JO only has options out to Dec but the $20s are $4.30 and the $25s are $2.20 for net $2.10 on the $5 spread and we can pay for that by selling the $21 puts for $1.60 to net 0.50. That's worth doing 10 in the LTP for $500 because it pays $5,000 (+950% on cash) if all goes well and, if not, then we own 1,000 shares of JO at $21.50 - nothing wrong with that either!
I agree with STJ that DBA (which we already have in the LTP) is a better overall play but, when a particular commodity gets this low - it's fun to play the ETF straight up.
SGG/StJ - Sugar and grains are very tricky to play. Sugar probably doing bad because cocoa is bad and that means less chocolate, though I would imagine sodas like Pepsi going back to real sugar could change that but then less corn sweeteners on the other side...
