OpenAI board member Helen Toner published a Georgetown study that looked critically at the startup

What sparked the wildest corporate drama of the year, the firing and rehiring of OpenAI co-founder Sam Altman? Perhaps nothing more than a Georgetown University research paper. 

In October, Helen Toner, an OpenAI board member and Director of Strategy and Foundational Research Grants at Georgetown’s Center for Security and Emerging Technology co-authored “Decoding Intentions: Artificial Intelligence and Costly Signals” with a Georgetown professor and fellow, publishing it through the Center for Security and Emerging Technologies in October.
