Israeli forces have surrounded the home of Yahya Sinwar, the Hamas leader described as the mastermind of the gruesome Oct. 7 attacks, according to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

[Jumping to the end] The then-director of Israel’s Shin Bet intelligence and his deputy reportedly recommended Sinwar’s assassination, arguing that he would only become more dangerous and that it would be worth another round of fighting to get rid of him, according to the Israel Hayom newspaper.
But the advice was repeatedly rejected by Netanyahu and the two prime ministers, Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid, who replaced him between June 2021 and December 2022, the Israeli news outlet reported.
