‘Never Again’ Is Right Now

As the barbaric atrocities perpetrated by Hamas on October 7 began to unfold, their brutality and magnitude violated the fragile veil of ‘quiet’ of the day before; 10/7, marking the deadliest attack on Jews since the Holocaust, should have been a seismic wake-up call, akin to the paradigm-shifting impact of 9/11. Unfathomably, it exposed and unleashed an equally disturbing and virulent ‘modern’ strain of antisemitism — antizionism, the denial of Israel’s very right to exist, within any borders — that has become mainstream in multiple spaces and places. Alarmingly, 10/7 was met with a combination of deafening silence and loud denial, justification, support, and attacks of Jews around the world.
