Hell No, We Won’t Go!

Courtesy of Mish.

How many Mish readers remember the Vietnam-era slogan “Hell No, We Won’t Go!” ?

I was part of that generation, graduating from high school in 1971. I had made up my mind the Vietnam War was totally unjustified to the point of being amoral.

If drafted, I decided I would not go. I planned an escape to Canada. I am still proud of my stance, but I never was put to the test. The government had just started a lottery and my number was safe.

In the 1960s and early 1970s the government sentenced 3,200 draft resisters – those who publicly refused to register or to go when drafted — to prison for up to five years.

Lest you think ISIS requires a draft, please bear in mind that ISIS is a US creation that came about directly because of US warmongering in the Mideast.

President George Bush’s partner in the Iraq massacre, UK prime minister Tony Blair, admitted just that.

For details please see Tony Blair’s Disingenuous, Self-Serving Analysis of Iraq in which Blair admitted some responsibility for creating ISIS but said he would do it again anyway.

New Anti-War Documentary Coming Up

Hell No

There’s a new anti-war documentary coming out this summer about resistance to the Vietnam War.

For a preview clip or to donate to the documentary, please see “The Boys Who Said No."

Never Again

There should never be another draft, ever. Drafts constitute “forced servitude”, a euphemism for the correct word, “slavery”.
